SHELAGH DELANEY CREATIVITY AWARD

This year is Salix Homes seventh annual Salix Stars Awards which recognise the unsung champions living in our communities.

This year some exciting new categories have been added to the line-up including the Shelagh Delaney Creativity Award to recognise creative talent and innovation; in honour of the Salfordian playwright who grew up on the Duchy Estate and who penned A Taste of Honey.

There is also a special Sprit of Salford Award which recognises individuals or groups who encompass the city's true spirit.   The other categories include ‘Aim High' star, Young Rising Star and Best Green Star.
Sue Sutton, chief executive at Salix Homes, said: "The Salix Stars Awards are a brilliant way of recognising some of the amazing work our residents do in the community. We have had some really inspirational winners over the years and it's people like this that make our communities special.

"We know that community spirit is very much alive and well in Salford so if you know someone who has gone the extra mile in their neighbourhood, made a real difference to the area they live, always puts others first or has shown exceptional bravery then I urge you to nominate them for a Salix Star."

The awards, which are supported by the Advertiser, are open to any Salix Homes' customer including tenants, leaseholders or homeowners living in a Salix Homes' neighbourhood.

A specialist panel will judge the nominations selecting three finalists in each category, with the Spirit of Salford category going to a public vote for the winner. Nominees will be invited to attend a glittering awards ceremony at the Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays, on Friday, 14 November.
